I am very pleased to announce the next release on Spanner Records, "My Love Thou Art a Monster" by New Jersey based Thunder Bunny, will be available from March 15th 2010. This is an excellent EP of four fantastic brand new songs. If you are new to the beautiful noise that is Thunder Bunny, the whole EP is streaming on the Spanner Records myspace page now.

CORONATION STREET RELEASE

The anticipated high level of interest in appearing on a compilation celebrating good old Corrie has been a little less than expected! But this release is still happening, and will likely by a split CD single, containing songs by BROKEN DOWN LORRY and GODSMANIA. A Spring release is most likely.

THUNDER BUNNY RELEASE

Also in the pipeline for a Spring release is a CD EP of four brand new songs by incredible New Jersey noise-meisters THUNDER BUNNY. I am really excited about this one, and hope you will be too. I advise checking out their recent material on their myspace page.

PEBBLE RECORDS

It is great to be able to announce that the two Spanner CDs currently available (LAST AND FIRST and TYRE KICKER +) will both be available very soon from the excellent new online shop PEBBLE RECORDS. Hopefully this will be the start of an ongoing relationship, as I really like what PEBBLE RECORDS are doing.

GODSMANIA SINGLE

In non-Spanner news, ODDNET (the digital arm of excellent DIY label ODD BOX RECORDS) are releasing a free digital single (provisional release date 18th JAN 2010) containing two brand new GODSMANIA songs - "HIGHER LOWER" & "NOW IT'S COMING ON".

Oh, and the bad news - I have had to increase the prices slightly (they are a little suicidal at the moment) to £3 (UK), £3.50 (EUROPE), & £4 (ROW). Still very good value!

The next compilation on Spanner Records will hopefully be a collection of songs on the theme of Coronation Street!

For non-UK readers, Coronation Street is surely the best soap opera ever created. Set in Manchester in the North of England, it can be moving and gritty, but it is the quality of the writing and humour that make it stand out. It celebrates everyday folk and has links to an earlier age of "kitchen-sink" type drama.

So this is a call to arms! If you are interested in being on the compilation and can put a song together in the next few months please let me know. Songs can be about characters or story lines from the series, or however you want to make it work.

It is going to be great!

I am happy to announce the latest Spanner Records release is an expanded (and now red!) version of the Godsmania "Tyre Kicker" EP. Since the original batch of CDs sold out, the songs have been available as a free download, but I wanted to press up some more CDs, as downloads just aren’t as exciting.

The new version, "Tyre Kicker +", contains the original five songs, along with the compilation track "look in your eye", the free download single "stupid lies", and the three unreleased songs from the earlier "Happy Head" demo.

That makes a whopping ten tracks in total (it’s an album!). These songs pretty much encompass my last two years of merry music making, and I will keep this version of the EP available from here on.

The "Last and First" compilation still produces a steady trickle of orders, so I have pressed up some more copies of that as well, and it will be available for the foreseeable future. Treat yourself to a copy if you haven’t already!
