Starting at age 14, Ryan Kittleman cut his teeth in the New York punk scene for nearly a decade before re-emerging a couple years ago in San Francisco as a mild-mannered law student. Shortly thereafter, he took to re-purposing a 6x8 closet in his apartment into a makeshift studio where he spent the next nine months recording his solo debut, "Album Savant" by the Three Potato 4. The tracks were assembled using a variety of "found" instruments- including mountain dulcimer, 1980s Casio keyboards, dollar-store toys, melodica, and tampura- and finished with lush cello arrangements. The result is an album of highly textured lo-fi psychedelia- intimate yet otherworldly, claustrophobic yet spaced out. The album caught the attention of indie-pop label Series Two Records who released it on March 31, 2009. “Album Savant” is available on CD, iTunes, eMusic, and Rhapsody. Enjoy!
