Cajita is Jay Chakravorty, an Indo-English-Irishman living in Bristol, England.
Cajita's goal is to appeal to both the heart and the head by combining the best bits of electronica and dance music with the best bits of singer-songwriting, using the builds and drops in computer-generated music to complement acoustic instruments and vocals.
It’s electronica but with real songs. And trumpets. And guitars. And pianos. And harmonies.
One review called it “foot-tapping, danceable, melancholic loveliness”, which is pretty much exactly the point. There is a story to how he got the name "Cajita", but it's not as interesting as you might hope.
