|| Bluesbunny Independent Music Reviews ||"Most bands save releasing demos until that end of career retrospective box set. However, Series Two have released an album containing ten demos from twee pop maestro Desmond Reed. You remember him? He brought us the trivial but truly surreal "Guinea Pigs" (it's on this album too). I'm not really sure what the point of this release is. The twee pop genre is not generally known for ornate productions so none of these songs seem that different from the released versions except for having even worse sound quality. I like Desmond Reed but this is surely one for his diehard fans only. Mind you, I suppose it saves you from trawling the Internet and buying his songs from half a dozen different labels."

|| IndiePages ||"After a bunch of 3-song EPs (mostly on the 3" cd format) on Wee Pop!, Anorak, Susy and Cass-et-tape Records, Desmond finally gives us a full album! Well, almost - most of these songs come from those releases (one each from Anorak & Cass-et-tape discs and the other two in their entirety), with only two previously unreleased songs. I don't know exactly why he didn't bother to collect all of the songs in one place to make it more complete (c'mon, no "Baby-Sitters Club"?), but I hope that this album will find a larger audience for him than those limited EPs. Desmond's songs are very basic in nature, generally comprised of an acoustic guitar and double-tracked vocals, with the occasional keyboard line here and there. His lyrics are where his real charm lies, though, with fun little ditties involving subjects like friends, pets and good times, bringing to mind the early solo Jason Anderson stuff. And those good times sure are mighty infectious! MTQ=10/10"

|| Indieville ||"I realize the prospect of a collection of acoustic demos may make some readers wary, as using the "demo" label is often merely an excuse for proliferating underdeveloped songs. But these bare-boned melodic tidbits, all of which fall between two and three minutes, are perfectly suited to DIY label Series Two, and Reed carries them out with formidable consistency and charm. The key to these tracks is their succinctness. Each song has a catchy melody, and lasts just long enough to get the point across. Highlights include sticky "No More Room," swooping "Neat," and Joe Jackson-esque "Summer Vacation." Though limited mostly to guitar and vocals, the tracks are successful due to Reed's solid delivery - his lush voice is perfectly suited to this context. He is also very easy to understand and, as a result, enjoy; the cutesy lyrics of "Guinea Pigs," for example, would make the perfect song for a coffeehouse performance. One added bonus of such a bare approach is that the listener is left to freely imagine the fuller songs that could be designed based on these musical sketches. It would be interesting to see what Desmond Reed could pull off given a full band and a professional production studio; although, it is possible that such resources might only undermine the quaint charm of his music. For now, 10 Acoustic Demos is an excellent glimpse at Reed's talent for writing concise, infectious pop songs. "

|| Fazer Magazine ||"Through his relatively short career - Boston Massachusetts native, Desmond Reed has released several albums on a plethora of labels around the world. Influenced by 90’s college radio hero’s Dead Milkmen and Mojo Nixon. His songs deal with everything from acting suspicious when being watched shopping, staircase wit, and procreating guinea pigs. Desmond Reed brings us back to when a guitar and great lyrics could simply carry a tune."
