:Castle-1
On May 19th, 1998, after nearly a year of planning, Sandcastle Records released the compilation This Is
Stereophonic Sunshine. The name comes from a song by Watership Down, which is used by permission. The song
appeared on their 1996 cassette-only album, Delicatessin, on Cave Records. Most of the songs on the
compilation are exclusive, and the songs that aren't exclusive are all either previously unreleased, or obscure and/or
difficult to obtain. Here is a tracklisting for the comp:
1. Ribboncandy: "Astrobright"
2. #Poundsign#: "Walking and Talking"
3. Panic Strikes a Chord: "Decap or Regular"
4. Gaze: "Blink"
5. Racecar: "Ninth of December"
6. Club 8: "The Friend I Once Had"
7. Starport: "Penny Arcade"
8. New York School Poets: "ExpoFacto15"
9. Super: "Frostbite"
10. Jumprope: "Interstellar Secrets from the Cellar"
11. Coloring Book: "Presence of Mind"
12. Class: "Computers"
13. Orange Cake Mix: "Baby I Know"
14. Smiling Marianne: "The Burp Song"
15. Cessna: "It's Time"
16. the Autocollants: "Why Can't Things Just Stay the Same?"
17. Red Sleeping Beauty: "No Easy Way Down"
18. Month of Sundays: "I Was a Poor Example"
19. Watoo Watoo: "Everyone Will Forget You"
20. Metronome: "Easy to Say"
21. Cartwheel: "A Break in the Clouds"
Here's what one very enthusiastic reviewer had to say...
"This is Stereophonic Sunshine is very dreamy indeed. It is perfect for lazy summer days. One could easily listen
to this record from morning--in all her glory: a gentle cool breeze, birds singing in the most casual of ways--to the
afternoons which are much too hot and long. Perhaps, upon further reflection, through the evening as well. For the
evening it starts to cool down and one could almost think that they could live like this forever. Club 8, Super, The
Autocollants, Smiling Marianne, Month of Sundays... wondrous."
