Well folks, Denton was sure something. I don't have much to say as it's getting late here in Illinois and I've gotten very little sleep and homework done. Suffice it to say that we now have only one copy of both Grumpy Bear's KOSAR EP and Land of Ill Earthquake's LINES EP...So someone should snatch that up pronto, because those EPs are two of my favorite releases and they're the perfect addition to anyone's DIY music collection. Signing off.

Indeed, it's been awhile since an update on here, but no one really reads this, do they? At any rate, lots of things going on with POP MONSTER these days, including a NEW WEBSITE...which will be unveiled shortly. For now, this'll have to do. And don't forget to check out while your here, tinyfolk's new record out now, as well as the new CDLP by A Toothless Life. They're both great records and are well worth the 5 quid. Thanks for stopping in and checking out our little label. Every purchase is a step towards not giving up!

You've fallen into our arms now, chilluns. Prepare to be coddled by magical music until you pass out from happy. POP MONSTER is undergoing magnanimous changes; new folks are being initiated into the family left and right, this new site of course (thanks to one
Mr Blubaugh, Esq.). Also, I have a quick aside. I don't normally do this, seeing as I find it difficult enough to promote our own music; however, I felt compelled to tell all of you folks who happened upon our little lable's little site about my new friends and their new record:
My experience of
Patience Please and their
Fleeting Frequencies occurred in opposite order of what one would expect: I met the band, I saw them live, then I listened to their record. Many times I've thought, "I sure hope this band can do justice to this recording" whenever I go out on a limb and actually fork out money for a release (running Pop Monster keeps me rolling in poverty); but I saw Patience Please play live and hoped against hope that their record could keep up with how amazingly they performed. These kids are amiable, easy-going and just awesome. And they're a whole lot more proficient with their instruments than they might lead on. Their set washed over me like the soundwaves were crashing upon the beach of my face. I was the only person at the show who wasn't in a band (that was performing that night), and they still put everything they had into the set(although I'm sure they had some cards hidden somewhere). I was blown away, and not just by the songs; it was like having my own personal concert, which is how I normally experience sitting down and listening to a record. And indeed that's how Fleeting Frequencies feels. The album flows as fast and with as much energy as their shrewd yet sincere set they shared with me. The album really feels like a highspeed slideshow, with such movement as dazzles the eye(/ear), yet if one were to stop the motion, a still-life would spring from the surface of the aural emulsion. If you don't get what I'm saying, just fucking buy the record and you'll know exactly what I mean.
Last but most definitely not least, we're preparing for the
New Sabbath Festival happening in Denton, TX. Thanks to the
Magilum Collective, we're going to have our own label showcase: that's right, a merch booth and our own stage feature all POP MONSTER artists, all day. So far confirmed, we have The Brandon Harrod Orchestra, Boogdish, Super Famicom, redbear and A Toothless Life. Also hopefully joining us will be Willie Talk. It should be a wonderful day for music and and community and beauty all around. Please come if you can!
