*Update*- October 30th, 2006 - It is with deep sadness that we must announce that the upcoming show at the Make-Out Room (Nov 21st., w/Sweet Trip and Make Me) will be our last with singer/bassist Wade. Wade is being pushed out of the Bay by the cold, hard jack-boots of economics, and is going to be moving up to beautiful Portland, Oregon at the end of December. We are insanely jealous of Portland, and we hope they treat him well. We also hope that Wade's vegan and totally wheat-free diet can continue unaffected there.

What does this mean for the Concubines? Well, the rest of us have agreed to tough it out, at least for a little while, and hunt for a new singing bassist. We know - singing bassists aren't the easiest thing to come by, but we're keeping our fingers crossed. It has been suggested that Jeff, who sings on about 1/3 of the songs, could take over all lead vocal duties. However, Jeff has deemed that a heinously bad idea. So, if you know any singing bassists who happen to be as obsessed with jangly, melodic guitar-pop as we are, please let us know!

In the meantime, we're busy recording all of our remaining unrecorded output, which is 9 songs. We hope to get that finished by mid-December, and you can get in touch with us if you want a copy of it when we're finished. Check back for more details on that.

So, don't forget to come to the Make-Out Room show! We're especially excited about this show since longtime friends Sweet Trip are on the bill. At least come just to see how irresistably hot and sexy their bassist Aaron is. And, sadly, if we can't find someone to fill Wade's shoes, this could be our last show ever!

Upcoming shows:
Tuesday, 11/21 at the Make-Out Room in SF
w/ Sweet Trip and Make Me
Show starts at 8:30

We are the Concubines from Oakland CA, purveyors of relentlessly and perversely melodic pop. We've just finished recording an ep's worth of tunes, some of which you can hear on the music page. If you like what you hear, write to us and we'll be tickled pink to sell you a copy. These will also be available at upcoming shows. More details on the EP can be found on the Discography page.
