LIE 141 LIE 141 ANTON BARBEAU - "Running without scissors" (11 songs)

Now residing in Cambridge, U.K., Anton Barbeau is a veteran of the U.S. indie scene, with a huge discography licensed on both sides of the Atlantic and collaborations with the likes of Scott Miller, Kimberly Rew and The Bevis Frond. This cassette offers a glimpse into the varied and eclectic sonic palette Anton has developed over the years, ranging from fuzzed-out rockers to psyched-out pop tunes, from jazzy balladry to off-kilter and nearly improvisational extravaganzas. For anyone who is not familiar with Anton's output, this can be a good starting point to beging digging into his consistent (though partly hard to find) back catalog.

LIE 142 LIE 142 THE EYESHADES - "s/t" (8 songs)

The Eyeshades is a band from Sweden, whose music differs quite a bit from that of the many indiepop bands from that Country that we have become (and keep becoming) acquainted with. In fact, the sound of The Eyeshades mixes dancey electronica, jazz, lounge, a Motown-esque feel, sometimes some crunchy guitars and, yes, a little bit of pop as well, to create a warm and embracing blend that is at the same time contemporary and retro.

LIE 143 LIE 143 PAPER TIGER - "Everyone here" (20 songs)

Paper Tiger is a Dutch pop band whose sound ranges from folk-tinged ballads to hard-edged power-pop throwing in a little bit of everything that fits in between. This is a limited extended cassette version of their 2008 debut album "Everyone here", featuring all the tracks originally included in the cd along with some bonus material, such as live tracks, excerpts from radio sessions and two previously unreleased and elsewhere unavailable songs.

LIE 144 LIE 144 THE THREE POTATO 4 - "Album savant" (10 songs)

Adventurous and visionary home-recorded pop, that is performed with a wide array of equipment (ranging from guitars, keyboards and drum machines to organs, strings, dulcimer and toy instruments) and works as sort of a soundtrack to the personal lyrics penned by Ryan, the man behind this project.

LIE 145 LIE 145 DEBT COLLECTOR - "Daytime tv erodes your soul" (11 songs)

Songs about dead end jobs, life in a tiny community and being a frustrated musician.

LIE 146 LIE 146 DEWDROP FOUNTAIN - "A choirboy misadventures" (7 songs)

A young lad from the Philippines, with the occasional help from a handful friends, writing and singing sweet songs about life and whatever, good or bad, it brings our way day after day.

LIE 147 LIE 147 LE MANS AVEC LE LUNETTES - "Plaskaplaskabombelibom" (9 songs)

Italy’s favourite spectacled popsters are back on our label with the cassette version of their latest full-length effort, which marks a major step forward towards artistic maturity.

LIE 148 LIE 148 FINGLEBONE - "Broken satellite sky" (6 songs)

Ambience, slowcore and folk meet and intertwine as parts of sonic textures that blend darkness and hope, serenity and angst.

LIE 149 LIE 149 THE DANDELION COUNCIL - "Summertime nebula" (12 songs)

Taking inspiration from a close relationship with the natural world and the observation of changes occurring in the landscape with the passing of the seasons, Dandelion Council’s tunes are a spiritually challenging reflection on the process of natural and human aging within the flow of time and on the entropic nature of our own selves and the world we live in. Cohesively uniting nostalgic moments of meditative ambience and uplifting episodes of beat-driven cheerfulness, Dandelion Council’s music is about our struggle to ultimately deal with mortality and make some sense of the finiteness of our existence.

LIE 150 LIE 150 THE CALORIFER IS VERY HOT - "Evolution on stand-by" (12 songs)

Limited cassette version of the sophomore full-length by these Italian up-and-coming eclectic popsters, whose multifaceted and ever elusive sound challenges any definition by creatively entwining hints of indiepop, lo-fi, psychedelia, noise and dancey beats and blending them into always new formulas.
